New Creative Possibilities at St Lucy
26/2/2009
"It's a giant toaster!" cried 4 year old Alana Drewitt Smith as St Lucy's new kiln emerged from its packaging.
It's rare for primary schools to have their own kiln but pottery is an essential sensory activity for St Lucy's children and an area in which vision impaired students in particular can excel -

Return to School
6/2/2009
Over 40 new students began the 2009 school year at St Lucy's on 29 January. This is nearly one-third of the school population of 130 and is in part due to St Lucy's success in preparing so many of its students for mainstream schooling after a year or two. The rest of the vacancies were created by students graduating to high school.
There were tears on the first day but only from parents. The children took to their new classes with delight and all have been very keen to return each day since. A special liturgy was held on 5 February to welcome the new students and parents and to bless the year ahead.
It was a very exciting start to the year for students who transferred from the Wahroonga campus to the Aim High satellite class at St John's, Narraweena. Although still enrolled with St Lucy's, this class is part of St John's and is included fully in the life of that school.

New Deputy Principal
6/2/2009
St Lucy's welcomes a new Deputy, Mr Mark Van Ommen. Mr Van Ommen was previously at St Joseph's, Lochinvar, a mainstream Diocesan school, so St Lucy's as an independent special school is a very new experience for him.
Other new and wonderful staff are Ms Nikki Aldis, Ms Leah Stanten, Mrs Elisa Mandis, Ms Cass McQueen and Ms Sarah Baldwin.
