St Lucy’s All Abilities Theatre Project began in 2007 as a program that would bring together St Lucy’s children with children from mainstream schools to collaborate and make beautiful theatre together. The objectives of the project were, and are, to introduce children all of abilities to each other’s talents and imaginations and to build bridges in friendship through a rich and engaging creative process.
The Project is directed by professional actors who deliver excellent Drama training including characterisation, play building and stage craft. The Project has flourished over 10 years with a number of students who have remained in the program since its inception. The Project now operates as two companies: Company A, for primary aged students, and Company B, for students who move in to high school and wish to remain in the Project. The companies work in parallel and do often collaborate on theatrical pieces. Currently both companies are working on a combined production of A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream.
Theatre Project takes place on Monday afternoons during term time. It takes place in the St Lucy’s Creative Arts studios. The Project currently has no available places but there is a waiting list for students to join. We endeavor to bring all wait list students into the project within a year of their expression of interest.
